About the study
The study uses historical data to evaluate the capacity of youth employ¬ment creation in Mozambique in agriculture, manufac¬turing, mining, construction, tourism, transport and communications, and services sectors. It seeks to examine the job responsiveness and performance of sectoral product growth during 2010-2018 in terms of creating youth employment. As part of the study, a comparative literature review on the growth trends in the above-mentioned sub-sectors was conducted in order to calculate the elasticity of employment growth from 2010 to 2018.
The article provides a set of employment-GDP elasticities datasets based on the case study of Mozambique. It also explores determinants of variations in employment elasticity focusing on the role played by structural and sectoral variables. The article recommends that certain sectors of the economy be giv¬en attention because they have the potential to create youth employment
