About the study
This research investigates the dynamics of Mozambique’s banking sector from 2002 to 2022, focusing on the market structure and competitiveness. Using a panel dataset, it analyzes how factors such as market concentration and regulatory conditions have influenced sectoral efficiency and accessibility over time.
Employing both parametric and non-parametric methods, including market power indices and translog models, the study assesses the degree of competition in Mozambique’s financial landscape. The findings aim to support policy development by identifying structural elements that foster a more competitive and resilient banking sector, ultimately contributing to economic growth and financial inclusion.
