Workshop

Workshop on Prices Project survey data and research

On 26 April 2024, the Centre for Economic and Management Studies (CEEG), University of Eduardo Mondlane (UEM), organizes a workshop discussing the data collected under the Survey on prices of agricultural products in the main markets of Maputo City and Province (Prices Project).

The Prices Project survey has been carried out under the Inclusive Growth in Mozambique (IGM) programme in view of producing evidence on the dynamics of price formation in the main food markets in Maputo Province. Understanding the factors behind price volatility is fundamental to mitigating its adverse effects to the economy.

The workshop has three objectives, namely: (i) presenting the Prices Project survey and its results; (ii) identify and explore research opportunities based on the data collected and create research teams around them; and (iii) explore the feasibility of the expansion of the survey in Maputo Province.

The workshop is part of efforts of the IGM programme to build research capacity of Mozambican research partners, namely the Faculty of Economics of the University of Eduardo Mondlane (UEM) and the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF). The event brings together teachers from the Faculty of Economics, technical staff from relevant government institutions, PhD students, and the programme trainees.
