Workshop

Workshop on LaTex

On 20 December 2023, the Inclusive growth in Mozambique (IGM) programme organizes a one-day course on LaTeX, an open-source document preparation system used for the communication and publication of scientific documents.

The course is designed for university teachers, students and researchers and its main objective is to promote the use of LaTex for academic writing and publication among the participants.

The first part of the workshop consists in an overall introduction to LaTex: when should it be used; environments for equations; figures and tables; working with references (including a bibliography); and working with different document types (including presentations). The second part of the workshop will be used to demonstrate tools for integrating output from statistical programmes, such as STATA, into LaTex. The following topics will be discussed in more detail: principles of data organization; file structures; importing graphics; creating tables; and regression output.

The training is coordinated by the Center for Economic and Management Studies (CEEG) of the University of Eduardo Mondlane (UEM) and given by Sam Jones, UNU-WIDER Research Fellow and IGM Resident Advisor based at the Ministry of Economy and Finance (DNPED-MEF).
