About the study
The influence of New Public Management (NPM) on the performance management of Mozambican State companies falls within the field of study of Management Control. State companies are governed by the pursuit of the public interest, as well as by the guiding principles focused on business models and private law. They tend to operate in sectors related to the production of services and goods that affect society as a whole, thus justifying the presence of the State in their capital structure. In this way, they match private management goals – financial, economic, operational performance – with public goals – quality of the service provided, range of services to customers and the economy – in the context of the strategic management of these sectors.
