Research Fellow Sam Jones presents at the 2018 WIDER development conference

Mozambique’s economy has experienced substantial change over the past twenty years, and it has been one of the top regional growth performers from the mid-1990s to 2016. However, the pace of poverty reduction has been slow, and the current challenge is to assure improvement on welfare across society. Job creation has a key role in this. These were the key insights of the review by Sam Jones, UNU-WIDER Research Fellow from the Inclusive Growth in Mozambique project.

Jones gave his presentation on 15 September at the 2018 WIDER development conference Think development – Think WIDER that took place in Helsinki, Finland. The presentation was based on his and Finn Tarp’s working paper where they make an analysis of Mozambican growth through an employment lens.
