Tony Addison presents at a high-level policy dialogue in Maputo

Chief Economist and Deputy Director of UNU-WIDER, Tony Addison, is attending in a high-level event Preparing Mozambique for Natural Gas, hosted by the Bank of Mozambique and the IMF in Maputo, 27-28 March. Addison will give a presentation on extractives and international experience, based on a recent UNU-WIDER study Extractive Industries: The Management of Resources as a Driver of Sustainable Development

One of the focal points of the Inclusive Growth in Mozambique programme Vasco Nhabinde, Director of the Directorate of Economic and Financial Studies of the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Mozambique, is also attending in the event as a discussant in the session on the tools to inform decision-making.

The event will be opened by H.E. Filipe J. Nyusi, President of the Republic of Mozambique. The event gathers national and international high-level officials, policy makers and researchers to identify key policy issues, policy choices, concepts and tools to prepare Mozambique for the development of natural gas projects.

This event is related to the programme Inclusive growth in Mozambique – scaling-up research and capacity and the UNU-WIDER project Extractives for development.
