MOZMOD v1.0

A report on the tax-benefit microsimulation model of Mozambique

Tax-benefit microsimulation modelling has become a valuable tool for countries to calculate the effects of policies on household income and government revenues, as well as on poverty and inequality. This report documents MOZMOD, the model developed for Mozambique as part of the ongoing SOUTHMOD project carried out by UNU-WIDER, project partners, as well as the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Mozambique.

The results presented in this report are derived using MOZMOD version 1.0 running on EUROMOD software. The report describes the different tax-benefit policies in place, how the microsimulation model picks up these different provisions, and the database on which the model runs. It concludes with a validation of MOZMOD results against external data sources.

Further information on MOZMOD and other SOUTHMOD models are available here.
