Government officials and students gathered for SAM course in Maputo

The Directorate of Economics Studies and Finance (DEEF) of the Ministry of Economic and Finance (MEF), in collaboration with UNU-WIDER, have been developing a model which will help policymakers analyze the macroeconomic situation of Mozambique.

With that objective, both institutions held an advanced course on the Mozambique Social Accounting Matrix (SAM), from 17 to 21 July 2017 in Maputo, to build knowledge about SAM tools that could be used to conduct analyses that lead to policies conducive to economic growth and poverty reduction.

The course was attended by officials of the Instituto Nacional de Estatística (INE) and Ministry of Economics and Finance, and students of the University of Eduardo Mondlane's Faculty of Economics.
